Drone + Fun

My Drone Story

I started with a tiny DJI Mini in 2020 and ended up soldering FPV rockets by 2024. This page is the scrapbook of every crash, sunrise, and adrenaline spike along the way.

DJI chill vibes vs FPV adrenaline

The chilled-out GPS flights quickly turned into solder fumes, carbon fiber splinters, and goggles glued to my face. Nothing beats diving a mountain followed by a perfect cinematic orbit.

My FPV path

From kit parts to a custom rocket

FPV building is therapy and chaos at the same time. Here is the build log that took me from stock components to the freestyle monster I now send through warehouses.

Build
Frame + motors

Step 1

Frame + motors

Putting together the frame and the motors is a puzzle of heat tolerance, carbon fiber dust, and planning your configuration. Choose the right frame and it rewards you with a drone that feels like it was born to fly.

Step 2

Screws + solder fumes

Attaching the motors, setting up the stack, soldering every pad… it is more physical than expected. From tinning wires to balancing propellers, the tools you bring decide how chill the build day is.

Drone laws

Fly fun, fly legal

German and EU rules changed a lot. Here are the highlights I keep in my flight bag before every session.

  • 1.Insurance - 10 cents/day or 39,96 per year.
  • 2.You need an EU Drone Certificate before flying a drone. The EU Drone Licence has two certificates: the basic certificate and the supplementary certificate. A1-A3 is the basic certificate. If you want to fly a drone in Germany, you need to obtain this certificate from 250 grams.
  • 3.Drones may not fly above 100 meters (328 feet) without a permit. In controlled airspace, the maximum altitude allowed is 50 meters (164 feet). Drone pilots must maintain a direct line of sight with their drones at all times.
  • 4.All drones weighing 250 grams (.55 pounds) or more must be labeled with a fireproof badge containing the name and address of the drone owner/operator.
  • 5.Stay at least 1.5 kilometers (0.93 miles) away from airports. Avoid flying over crowds, prisons, industrial areas, disaster sites, residential zones, major traffic routes, and all sensitive infrastructure such as highways, waterways, and rail lines.

And that's a wrap

Thanks for flying along

This hobby keeps me curious, humble, and always ready to chase the next sunrise. Hope it sparked your own urge to explore.
